Pterosaur Feathers

“Tupandactylus imperator had whisker-like monofilaments and more complex branching feathers. When examined under a microscope, each type of feather contained different sorts of melanosomes.”

The headline in this synopsis concludes, Pterosaur fossil suggestes feathers may have evolved long before flight". The problem with that statement is that these feathers, though ornamental, are on a flying animal!
